Note: this is a two-day workshop, scheduled on two Saturdays from 10am to 1pm

With their tall and quirky shapes, Wonky Vases are one of my most favorited designs. And they're a lot of fun to make, too! 😊 In this workshop, I invite you to build your own set of wonky vases with me. We will explore some hand building and sculpting techniques, and paint the vases with my favorite stoneware glaze. It will be a fun and inspiring workshop in which you will explore your creativity. And: the vases will be yours to keep afterward.

Make your own Wonky vases

In this workshop, you will be making a set two to three Wonky Vases. You will choose and create your own designs (f.e. a pup, kitty or a little person) and you will paint them with colored glaze after their first firing. I will be there to guide you through the process and provide you with tips and inspiration. I will fire your pieces, and you will receive them by mail within 4 weeks.

The workshop will take place in my cozy ceramics studio in Utrecht, and it will have a total duration of about six hours (2 days of 3 hours). There will be coffee, tea, and an occasional snack to fuel your creativity 🍪

First part of the workshop (September 12)

We will start the workshop with an introduction on hand-building. You will then be building your vases using the rolling technique. You will attach bottoms, sculpt them (fe give them little ears and snouts) and we will then leave them to dry. They will have their bisque firing, and they will be ready to paint with glaze in the next workshop.

First part of the workshop (September 19)

Today you will be painting your vases with stoneware glaze. I love color and will make sure there will be lots of different colors to paint your vases with : ) I will also share several painting and pattern techniques, so you can give them your own personal touch. 

After the workshop, I will ask you to leave your creations in the studio. I will fire them one more time and once they are finished, I will ship them to your home. This will happen in approximately four weeks.

Important to know

- As you will be working with clay and glaze, make sure to wear something that can get dirty!
- No need to bring any additional items; everything is provided in the course. 
- On both days, the workshop will start at 10am. The studio will open at 9.45 am.
- There will be coffee, tea and some nice snacks to enjoy.
- Cancellation is possible up until 1 week prior to the start of the course.
- After the course, it will take up to 4 weeks before you receive your creations as I will fire them first.
- Your vases will be shipped to you by mail
- A few days before the workshop, you will receive an email from me with some additional info and reminders. 

Gold Luster

Many of my sculptures carry gold luster details on them, but due to technical reasons we won't be working with gold luster in the workshop. In case you would like your vases to have gold details on them, I can apply this for you afterward. This will cost an additional 7 euros for each piece. Note that it may take a bit longer before you receive your creations by mail, as they will need one extra firing session.
