Note: this workshop is scheduled on two mornings in one weekend (Saturday & Sunday from 10am to 2pm)

In this workshop, I invite you to build your own set of bells with me. We will explore several hand building and sculpting techniques, sculpt bell elements from clay and paint them with colored clay slip. It will be a fun and inspiring workshop in which you will explore your creativity, and end up with two wonderful, self-made bells afterward.

Make your own Wonky vases

In this workshop, you will be making a set two to three bells. You will choose and create your own designs (f.e. a cat, fox or a little person) and you will paint them with colored clay slip. I will be there to guide you through the process and provide you with tips and inspiration. After the workshop I will fire your pieces, and you will receive them by mail within 4 weeks.

The workshop will take place in my cozy ceramics studio in Utrecht, and it will have a total duration of about eight hours spread over one weekend. Classes will run until 2pm, after which you will have plenty of time to explore Utrecht. During workshop hours there will be coffee, tea, and an occasional snack to fuel your creativity 🍪

First part of the workshop (May 22)

Saturday is sculpting day! We will start the workshop with an introduction on hand-building. I will share some technical instructions and you will be sculpting your bells, including all elements that come with it (such as beads, thread separator, flower petals and other cute things you would like to include). You will finish and prepare all your pieces for painting, wich we will do on the next day. 

First part of the workshop (March 21)

On Sunday, you will be painting your vases with colored clay slip. I love color and will make sure there will be lots of different colors to paint your vases with : ) I will also share several painting and pattern techniques, so you can give them your own personal touch. 

After the workshop, I will ask you to leave your creations in the studio. I will dry, glaze and fire them, and once they are finished (in approximately 4 weeks), I will ship them to your home. You will get the choice to have your bells assembled by me, or do it yourself. If you'd like to do it yourself, I will include the thread in the package.

Important to know

- As you will be working with clay and glaze, make sure to wear something that can get dirty!
- No need to bring any additional items; everything is provided in the course. 
- On both days, the workshop will start at 10am. The studio will open at 9.45 am.
- There will be coffee, tea and some nice snacks to enjoy.
- Cancellation is possible up until 1 week prior to the start of the course.
- After the course, it will take up to 4 weeks before you receive your creations as I will fire them first.
- Your vases will be shipped to you by mail
- A few days before the workshop, you will receive an email from me with some additional info and reminders. 

Gold Luster

Many of my bells carry gold luster details on them, but due to technical reasons we won't be working with gold luster in the workshop. In case you would like your vases to have gold details on them, I can apply this for you afterward. This will cost an additional 12 euros for each piece. Note that it may take a bit longer before you receive your creations by mail, as they will need one extra firing session.
